Hope everyone got something they wanted as well as gave something of themselves for the Holidays!
I have been cutting way down in my spending on clothes for these ladies. I will be sticking to cheapo clean out sales on Plastic Paradise for a while unless there's something I see that's super special. I mean I still have three items on the way that I'm pretty sure have been severely delayed by holiday post traffic. But I have no regrets. I just can't continue in the matter in the same careless manner with which I began this insanity. Also, I HAVE NO CLOTHES! I have not been shopping for myself in ages. The entire summer went by and I bought zero pairs of shoes for myself! ME!! That's sick.
How many shoes did I buy the Fab Five? I don't even wanna know.

Blythe Postcards on my bed
Had some snapfish postcards made of three of the Blythes last week, more as an experiment to see what they would look like than anything else. But they came out so well, that I think might need to market them somehow. Two of them include Cece's handmade hats so they would be great promotion but there needs to be a logo somewhere and I hadn't even thought about that. I will definitely be ordering more. I like them a lot.

Molly Enjoys My New Candle
I've started to experiment lately with the aperture and manual settings on my camera. i don't do a lot of low light photography and I always want to. I love the warmth, romance and hauntedness, the often silent contemplation of low light photography. I always thought I needed a much faster shutter to take low light but there also settings to mess with in my Manual settings which I never use which allow me to take great, clear pictures in low light settings. It's like having a whole new camera again. I can't wait to learn more!Skiing

Perrin's Last Days in NYC
Yesterday was really cold but I was determined to show Perrin a bit more of New York before I plunged myself into finals studying for the weekend. The plan was to try and find that Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park but I was up so early, met Cece to look for some beads to make a necklace and hadn't eaten a thing all day except maybe some cereal. So I just knew I wasn't going to make it to a statue that may or not have been near East 74th Street North of the lake? We just took a bus crosstown to the East Side to check out the Met and then do my favorite hike over to Belvedere's Castle which has become another favorite spot for the Fab 5. Molly came along to keep Perrin Company. We even stopped at Strawberry Fields where the candle was lit in the Imagine shrine.
Also I finally figured out this weekend that Perrin reminds so much of the silent screen actress, Lilian Gish. She has the most expressive, 30s era gamine eyes! It's hard to think of her as just a doll.
By Next Tuesday Perrin will be making her way to Philly. I'm giving her barrettes, the dress from Gina Garan and maybe a hat by Cece to take with her on her journey. It really has been amazing and I can't wait to follow the rest of her adventures in blog entries and pictures around the world.

I bought Perrin a little Hello Kitty bag for her NYC goodies as she prepares for her next trip to Philly. I' feel bad that I haven't been able to do more things with her, more generic touristy New York things. But tomorrow, I plan on taking her and Sabine to Central Park to find that Alice in Wonderland statue. Maybe even hang out a bit in front of the Met. But then I really need to buckle down and start studying for my Spanish finals. Boooring!

When Perrin and Reya met Gina
The line to get in stretched to the end of the block
Cece and I attended the Bust Craftacular yesterday around 12:30 or so to look all the wonderful handmade holiday crafts at the Metropolitan Pavilion. I also brought along Perrin and Reya to meet the lovely Gina Garan who was womanning the Blythe booth with her sister. Oh, it was such a great time! She actually recognized Perrin right away. EEEeeee!!! She's a star! And she loved Reya! We got a free gift for bringing them along, had a little chat with her and her sister and also picked up a little gift for them which I'm saving for Christmas. It was such and awesome time! This is my second time attending the Bust Craftacular. Amanda took me for the first time a few years ago and I loved it. It's wonderful to be able to see all the creativity put into these lovely one of a kind crafts, knit and crotchet wear, stationary, clothes jewelry and so much more. The vibe is really chill, the vendors are so nice. It's heaven, an inspiration and a great networking place for any artist.

Perrin The Traveling Blythe Has Arrived
During a really crappy work week, Perrin showed up yesterday morning on my desk, the way they all do. I was so happy, I was jumping up and down. Luckily, one of my very accepting co-workers was the only other person present.
Well Perrin is very tired as expected. She just landed from Canada. She's bit serious looking but she loosened up a bit after changing into some more comfortable clothes, one of which is a sweater given to her by her previous host. I also put her hair up in a casual ponytail.
I will be sure to add to her wardrobe as well before I ship her of to her next destination. But for a while she will be my sixth Blythe and I gotta tell ya. It's a full house! Thank God, she got here just before the weekend. I'll be attending the Bust Holiday Craftacular this weekend and hope to get some photo ops with Gina Garan.

Waiting for Perrin
She's on her way to NYC! She was shipped express last Monday and I'm told she might be here by next Monday! I hope the weather is good. I hope she gets to spend the weekend too!

Reese and Zoya have landed
Actually they both arrived at work yesterday at the same time! So I had two huge boxes to take home in addition to my Spanish homework textbooks. I opened them in the library with Cece. It was so much fun. But I didn't actually take them out of their boxes until I got home. I opened Reese first.
Reese Dynamite Girl
Her hair is super soft. I was really surprised by that had. We were surprised at how small her boobs are and on the whole she's very much on the skinny side. The bendability of her elbows and knees make her seem very spider like and she's very delicately and finely designed. I love that her eyelashes extend from her eyes. I've never seen that on a doll whose eyes don't move or close.
It's obvious that she's a dancer but I have decided that in addition to her obvious expertise in urban dance, she is also classically trained in Ballet and a talented vocalist.
Zoya Monsieur Z
Cece told me that she looked like someone she knew named Toya, so I combined that with the Z in her line brand name, Monsieur Z to make Zoya. Incidentally, I just discovered that Monsieur Z has nothing to do with Jason Wu the creator of Integrity Dolls. Monsieur Z Dolls were apparently inspired by the illustrator of the same name. I have to do a little more research on that. The appeal of his illustrations don't help at all with the fact that the name "Jungle Fever" for this gorgeous doll is disappointing and offensive. I mean WTF? Anyway, she's Zoya now.
She's got the most amazing complexion I have ever seen on a doll and hair that I could just live in. She's a bit stiff in the neck and a bit wobbly when I hold her by the legs. Both dolls are jointed in the chest area but do not twist in the hip which I just don't get. Twisting at the hip is a feature I love in dolls and one I feel is pretty essential to effecting realism with posing but I guess they make up for that with the fact that she's jointed everywhere else. Her little safari suit and glasses or so hip and current, I could put them on any doll and they would look amazing. Like Reese, she is also very delicately designed with articulated hands, painted fingernails and toes. Crazy!
Frankly, they're a little bit intimidating I gotta say, but I am entranced by their beauty and detail and I can't wait to explore their potential for animated posing in my photography.

So I was doing a search for a cheap deal on Takeo Mizutani when it brought up this insightful blog on Dolls of Color and it it made me realize in my attempt to make a pun about his "identity" that I didn't even catch the blatant stereotype. The worst of course if that Jason Wu is himself Asian. WTF.
Dear Jason Wu, why does the only East Asian guy in your Fashion Royalty series have to be a ninja? Aren’t YOU sick of people thinking all Asians know martial arts and kung fu?
Why couldn’t he be… umm… a designer? Or a photographer… or chef even?

Boogie Beach Reese (and my crazy doll schedule)
Did I mention that I purchased Boogie Beach Reese last week? I did. So I am awaiting her arrival along with Jungle Fever (Ugh, that name!) in the next week or so. The last doll I get for a long while may be a male integrity doll, Takeo Mizutani. Because I like some good old action as much as the next guy and besides, these chicks need some testosterone. Takeo, as he is called is on a "Moscow Mission" and comes in dark suit and has a long kick ass Katana blade for dismembering enemies or the very badly dressed.
In other news Perrin, The Traveling Blythe will soon be on her way to me to visit NYC and the Fab Five for a few days in December. I got an email from the TB crew today verifying my mailing address. which I decided to make my work address because I would just die if I had to deal with the deadbeats at my local post office to get Perrin safely home. I can't wait to see her in person! Her first stop was Chicago and now she is in Canada. I'm her third stop!! YIPEEEE!!!

1984 (for zanalee)
Spectacular! This is my third commissioned House of Pinku dress for Blythe. I tried to pass it up but I saw her making several different versions of this dress for other customers. The first one nearly knocked me out. I finally just gave in and fm'd her on flickr.
I love dresses with little picture prints in them that kind of tell a story. She calls this one "Beware of Tatoed Wolves." The horse is a bit obscured by the fold on the left but he's facing off against a wolf on the right. Who will win? Lol!
Also, this is the first party dress I've ever had from House of Pinku so it's pretty exciting. That black heart belt buckle and the white bow! are killer!
I'm hoping to pack this away with the Poncho from Miss Modular (did I blog that? If not I soon will.) and the Barbie Vespa to open up on Christmas or whatever day the Fab Five's Christmas will take place on.

Jungle Fever?
I'm not quite sure how I feel about that name but I just adore her face and hair!!! I love her entire Safari outfit! Why didn't these guys exist when I was a girl?
She reminds me a bit if Shirelle, my "First Black Barbie" doll except more updated. Her curly afro is more structured and with highlights! Oh my god! I have some seriously unresolved girlhood I'm living out here. And of course she's jointed at the elbows, knees and wrists because she's a Jason Wu Integrity Doll so she's way more poseable! I never had dolls that were this poseable!

The Barbie Vespa
It arrived at work today in this huge box. I had no idea it would be this big. This is the first toy I have ever bought for Blythe. I just love it so much as a photographic prop, I had to have it. But I am genuinely excited by just how cool it looks! The seat opens and the little hutch in the back has a matching helmet in it! Too cute!!

I have to be honest, I guess I am so used to the non-threatening open and friendly faced Barbie smile that Alysa, an Integrity doll, scares me a bit. The arched eyebrows, the wickedly shaped lips. I was never scared of Blythe Dolls, but this chick is intimidating. However, she photographs really well and I loooove that hair!

Spa Day for Reya and Opening Day for Hooked by Cece!
Since the hair I chose for Reya is 100% human I had to find a site that instructed on how to care for it. I was worried about messing it up but it turns out that it's not so different to wash than uh, human hair! LOL!! Only with store bought human hair you have to be careful not to wring or scrub the hair and to pat or air dry it rather than towel. I used a little of my own Organics Coconut Milk shampoo and a sample I found of some Ole Henriksen Orchid Flower conditioner which I worked in thoroughly with my fingers and left in for a few minutes before rinsing.
Having her hair washed kept Reya from working in an HBC photo shoot today so I took Sabine and Molly with me across the street to take pics in Marcus Garvey Park before the sun went down because I may not have mentioned it yet but Hookedbycece's etsy shop is open for business!!! Yeah!

11.09 Traveling Blythe
This is Perrin one of two Traveling Blythes who were purchased and customized for the purpose of traveling around the world visiting Blythe lovers and having her travels documented by all she meets in the "It's a Small World, travelling Blythe" Flicr group. I forget whose idea it was but it was a brilliant one.
Groups 1 and 2 were decided pretty quickly after we all contributed about 20 bucks each to buy and custom the doll with the idea being that at the end, one of us would win one of them. I am in Group 2, the North American Route and according to the list I will be the third to be visited by little Perrin. I have to be honest, I'm not super crazy about her hair at all. It seems so straight and flat and I was really excited about getting a doll whose hair I could style a little more but alas this is what it is and I am still crazy about meeting her!
She is already at the end of her stay at her first destination in Chicago with hana a go go. The next stop for her is mishou in Canada and then Zanalee (me) in old New Yooooork! That's in December. Oh, I'm so siked!!

Autumn Stroll
Took Reya, Vida and Emily out to Central Park this weekend. The conservatory on 103 and Museum Mile has really become our spot. I know all the places for the best shots there. The sky was a bit gray by the the time I made it out there but while we were out the sun made a few enchanting appearances which I took advantage of in the brief time I was given.
