For my birthday, my fiancee actually got me three gifts that I loved.
He got me Vampire Weekend's "Contra." He got me a book of poems by one my favorite authors, Richard Brautigan, "Rommel Drives on Deep Into Egypt.". And he got me Monster Highs Jackon Jekyll! It's the first doll he has ever given me!! EEEE!!!! He says that's it though. LOLOL!!

I should mention that he and I routinely exchange amazon gift wishlists so it's not like he picked these three gifts out of thin air. He picked them out of over say less than a hundred items I listed. We do this for all major holidays and birthdays just to avoid getting anything from each other we don't want and it works like a charm.

This year was particularly wonderful as in a bit of a funk during my birthday. These gifts cheered me right up. I really appreciated that Fran got me a doll. You have no idea. It was very sweet of him considering he is contributing to an addiction. LOL!

Jackson is my ninth MH doll. He is very handsome, nerdy and stylish and I like him a lot. He looks like a very sensitive soul. I love is yellow shirt and blue bowtie, his green messenger bag and checked sweater vest. He's not wearing them here but he also has a pair of black thick framed reading glasses which the rest of the MH gang will have fun passing around.

Neige's Replacement Faceplate

So as I mentioned a while back, I commissioned a faceplace carving from Melly Kay to replace my custom black Blythe, Neige. I made this error in her paint job that I have always regretted and just wanted her to be perfect because I knew I could do better. Plus I really wanted these beautiful full lips that Melly did on one of her other commissions. I just love them!

This weekend there was a lull in my finals study madness and I decided to paint the plate on Saturday before I went out to run some errands and avoid the fumes. I think she came out great and now I am wondering if I even want to paint the lips or if I should just leave them as they are. I am so scared of screwing them up.

Whatever I do I feel like I should spray matte the faceplate when I'm done just to seal everything in. Well, back to work. it's been a lovely weekend. Hope yours was just as lovely.

Tilt Neck Licca Bods

I've been seeing these tilt  neck liccas on Flickr for a bit and wondering exactly where people have found them, Through some random incidental Instagram comments I finally spotted a two-for on ebay and won them this morning. The only time I will ever buy bodies for custom use is when they come like this, two at a time. That's how I bought my neemo bodies as well because one just costs too much. One of them I used in my Black Blythe custom, Castaneda. I still have the other one on my book shelf. It's still headless and throwing up a peace sign but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it in the future. I only tried them for the first time because I knew they would hold spray paint well but to me they're more like poseable Emo bodies than anything. I like the subtlety of movement in Liccas more. And Takaras at least can wear a range of different shoes. But I do like the attitude effected by the tilt neck option in neemos a lot so I thought a licca with a tilt head could be very exciting.I just noticed though that these liccas (shown above) look a bit like Takara, Licca hybrids because like torsos never have boob that large and perky. It will be interesting to see what they look like in person.

I used to hate Licca bodies but now I think they are so freaking adorable. The only problem I have with them other than the fact that you can't successfully spray paint them (BOOOOO!!) is that it's hard for a licca girl to sit up on her own because the arms are not very sturdy. But I can live with that.

So I found Blythe Directory just a while ago and already tell I'm not going to get much work done today. What a great little site with such wonderful photos every single Blythe listed by price, appearance and mold! Ummm whaaat?
This is not helping to curb my habit one bit and I was sincerely hoping to. *SIGH!*

It's true. After a long day at work and at school I can come home feeling totally depleted and occasionally depressed but when I open my mailbox and see dolly mail I get a shot of adrenaline and fly up the stairs!

These Rob and Sioux bows are my latest acquisitions and I frikkin adore them! Brooklynpablita gifted me my first R&S bow. I think I became most familiar with them by seeing them on her girls in her photostream. I was skeptical at first since I'm not really a bow kinda gal but I soon began to see how much more they were than that.

By positioning them in different ways on the Blythe doll head you can create a range of different styles from cute to punk to modern and or course in combination with what she is wearing, create a very original style or your own. Incidentally they're also a really great way to get bangs to stay in place.

Makani the Traveling Blythe is saying her goodbyes today because she is off to her second stop in Canada tomorrow.

It's been such a joy hosting her although this weekend's weather is not what I had hoped it would be. My energy has been low, head stuffy and nose as well, plus I have finals coming up. BOOOO!!! Boring human stuff.

But it's been so fun having Makani around. She's a blast to photograph. I have photos of her I haven't even posted to flickr yet! Hopefully I will have time soon. It's actually a little sad to see her go but she has a long journey ahead and I can't wait to see what other adventures and encounters she has. Her next stop is in Canada and she will be shipped out tomorrow morning.

I was on my twitter account this week, looking for new design template themes for my account when I came across themeleon and flipped out. Their designs are so much nicer, more imaginative and full of pop than twitters default wallpapers. This lead me to Colour Lovers which themeleon was created by. Colour Lovers allows you create your own personalized color palletted and then create your own patterns for use as fabric, stationary, whatever!
UP-MY-ALLEY!

I designed Sahara Chevron as a test run and ordered a fat quarter swatch on Spoon Flower just to see what it would look like. It's just amazing that that the internet allows us to do things like this. Design our own fabric and then order it! Gotta love DIY based sites. I'm not sure this means my apprehension towards sewing is over but well, we'll see how inspiring Sahara Chevron is and get back to you. LOL!
